Search engines: not the ONLY place to get information!

July 29, 2008 By: Mari Woods Holt Category: Affiliate, Lead Exchange

According to CNBC there is a great new website being rolled out by the same company that owns Lending Tree and Ask.com- LIFE123.com.

We all use the internet as a source for information no matter what the topic is. Searching for information on the internet has truly become something we are “addicted” to. Well, there are a lot of resources available to search for information, besides just the search engines.
This great new website is a source for information that you will want to know more about. This site could be compared to such sites as About.com or chacha.com (which I did a previous post on).

What is Life123.com?
Life123 is the place to start when you need some answers to some questions you have about pretty much anything. The web site is full of experts that can help people quickly find information on a wide range of life topics.

Why Life123?
More and more, people are using search engines, however we are not always getting the information we need. According to the life123 website, roughly 75% of Americans experience search engine fatigue. Everyone has spent hours looking for information without finding what they really need.

What does Life123 cover?
Life123 covers 11 life categories: Beauty; Style, Celebrations, Food; Drink, Health; Wellness, Home; Garden, Money, Parenting; Family, Relationships, Technology, Travel; Leisure, and Work.

Enjoy LIFE!

Have you looked at Life123? It’s really a mess. Very busy. Content is weak. You have to click pages (1,2,3), and links are broken on some of those. Other pages look like glorified ads. Speaking of ads . . . be aware that this site is packed with those and many related to other companies owned by ask.com. If you’re looking for real information, I’d say – “Go to a real site.”

  3. Charlie,

It looks pretty busy, you are correct, also things are broken too, in Safari if I go to the “search by keyword” I have to delete everything in the box before I type in my search term, so the click and overwrite isn’t working.

Lot of background colors (gray bkg with black text) – hard to read. Load – pretty slow as well. I think cuil.com is probably going to have a better start and they will win more audience with the type of search they are doing.

  4. I think it has great potential. It does have a notice by the logo that it is in the Alpha stage, so I’m sure they are working out the kinks. I thought the content was for the most part presented very well and obviously written by professionals. Though there were a few weak content sections that seemed that they were added by a few users-they had a different feel written in the first person and weren’t quite at the same quality level. I’m excited to see the next phase.
