Myspace Down, Craigslist UP: A Battle Has Begun?
Craigslist took over the top spot for the most searched term that Internet users clicked through to in the United States, during the week ending March 14. Myspace had held the top spot as the most popular term since March 2006. According to Hitwise, “U.S. searches on the term “craigslist” have increased 105 percent for the week ending March 14, 2009, compared with the same week last year.” Why is this? Could this increase in searching “craigslist” be a result of the economic position many consumers are in? Either way, this is positive for Craigslist!
So, who will be the next king of the hill?
Publishers in The Leadpile Lead Exchange certainly look at Craigslist as a place to promote their websites and the Leadpile offers. Those that are not, should maybe look into this site as a potential source of traffic.

I might be the only person on earth that has not searched Craigslist, after reading this blog I took that step forward. I DID IT! Finally, took a jump into what has been talked about for years, I browsed through Craigslist! My results were horrific, they need a new web designer fast. Any web designers out there contact CRAIGSLIST immediately! With all the money they are making can they hire some new web developers, seriously, I don’t understand how the heck they actually survived online. Don’t judge a book by its cover, but why would people buy stuff from there. Kind of scary.
So after being the one and only person that has never searched on Craigslist, guess what? I probably never will. I still think MySpace is more up to date. More popular, more glam, more fit and organized.
1Are you kidding Susan? That’s the beauty about craigslist – no glitz, no glam, no popups, they’re not sellouts. It’s a true commerce site.
2Nick, people are constantly getting ripped off on Craigslist. Where’s the security on this site? Forget about the glam, let’s focus on the site itself. Craigslist allows anyone to advertise without verification that they are legit.
3You and your all the money they are making can they hire some new web developers seriously you donât understand how the heck they actually survived online.
