Consumers Prefer Debit Cards Over Credit Cards?

June 30, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Bankruptcy Leads, Debt Consolidation Leads, Debt Settlement Leads

To my surprise Visa Inc is reporting that US consumers are using their debit cards more than their credit cards. I find this surprising because it seems for years and years consumers have been using more and more credit cards, and getting more and more in debt. The debit card however is a new facet of spending in the fact that it utilizes money you have, not money you don’t have. However, any time you purchase something online you are advised to use your credit card because of the fraud protection policy. Does this mean the fraud policy is not the same on your debt card as the credit card? It seems not, but why is that? NPR.org goes on to point out that these two cards are very different if the cards are stolen. Why would laws be so different for something very much used in a similar fashion? In reality, credit cards are worse to use for the consumer, so why is there more protection to the consumer? bankruptcy leads law leads lead verticals Consumers Prefer Debit Cards Over Credit Cards?Credit cards cause more long term damage such as having to then look to consolidate or settle debts, or even file bankruptcy. Maybe the banks should look at becoming more uniform with what the credit card companies are doing to protect their clients….
Then again, do the banks make any money on debit card purchases… they certainly do with the credit card purchases.

Google AdSense & Mobile Applications

June 29, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing, Lead Exchange

affiliate marketing Google AdSense & Mobile ApplicationsGoogle has implemented a way for advertisers to sell on mobile phones. Google is partnering up with mobile applications to allow the Google AdSense to be incorporated into their applications. DMNews states that mobile app usage is starting to exceed mobile web usage, therefore there is a lot of potential here with this partnership. Ads will be presented to the mobile users that match up with geographically in a text or image format, just like on the traditional AdSense ads.
This is great news for the Leadpile publishers that are looking for additional ways to generate online revenue. These potential consumers that are downloading the mobile applications are a more targeted consumer, versus those just “surfing” the net. I am sure this is just the beginning of learning new ways to monetize the mobile applications.

The Effects Of An Icon Dying-Michael Jackson

June 25, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing, Lead Exchange

It is not the most amazing thing the effects an “icon” can have on the media? All major networks changed what they were broadcasting this evening because of Michael Jackson passing away, and internet sites are all bombarded by searchers. I am not sure if you are one of those people that heard the possibility of something bad happening to Michael Jackson earlier in the day, but Leadpile was. Scrambling to find out what was going on with this icon was what was on the TV, the radio AND the internet. How amazing is that that someone has so much impact on the whole world? The media (internet, radio and television) is so so powerful to convey such an icon’s legacy!
Leadpile says goodbye to Michael Jackson.

Internet Companies Interfering With Foreign Affairs?

June 24, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing, Lead Exchange, Technology

affiliate marketing Internet Companies Interfering With Foreign Affairs? If you have turned on the national news in the last week, there is talk about what is going on in Iran. Unfortunately, there is a lot of uproar going on, and there is some finger pointing going on with internet companies and their involvement. Internetnews.com is reporting,”Internet traffic experts and DPI firms have been hard at work assessing the traffic into and out of Iran, but such data only provides a certain level of insight into the motives and actions of the government of Iran. Experts believe that specific applications are being targeted, but cannot prove that the government is using a specific technology such as DPI. ” This opens up questions of how much should a government be able to interfere with it’s residence with their use of the internet. Are sites such as Twitter that powerful that there needs to be intervention? Technology is powerful, however is it really that powerful to affect results of Iran’s political affairs?

Health Related Bankruptcies Are Up 50%

June 23, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Bankruptcy Leads, Financial, Lead Exchange

With all the talk about foreclosures and people buried in their credit card debt, we have failed to talk about all those that can not afford health insurance (uninsured) or those that are underinsured. Bankruptcy is easy to think about it being related to someone having to many credit cards, and then something life changing happened that forced someone to not be able to pay their debts. However, a lot of today’s bankruptcies are not necessarily from credit card debt, but from health care bills.
bankruptcy leads law leads lead verticals Health Related Bankruptcies Are Up 50%A recent study shows, bankruptcies that were due to medical debt rose 50 percent from 2001 to 2007. Older consumers are the ones getting hit the hardest. The elderly are unfortunately forced to retire prematurely, have not enough insurance to cover all their bills, or simply do not have any insurance. In a previous blog post I had discussed this painful problem, however things have not gotten any better for our elderly.
Part of this study involved a telephone survey. The telephone survey revealed that 41.8 percent of interviewees specifically identified a health problem contributed to their bankruptcy, 54.9 percent cited medical or drug costs, and 37.8 percent blamed income loss due to illness. Overall, 68.8 percent cited at least one of these medical causes. An additional 6.8 percent had recently borrowed money to pay medical bills. Not only is this a potential insurance related issue, but it is an issue regarding bankruptcy and consumers having no other option but to file bankruptcy. What else do they do?
Leadpile works with the bankruptcy lead type, and this is very much a lead type we have a demand for more buyers to help provide this much needed help to the consumers.

Behavioral Targeting Legislation In The House

June 22, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing

affiliate marketing Behavioral Targeting Legislation In The HousePrivacy groups believe that there needs to be legislation in place to protect consumers on the internet. Many are concerned that data collection of consumer’s internet experiences are not fair to the consumers, unless they opt in to allow this behavioral targeting to happen. The FTC was petitioned back in 2007, however now it is at the point of Congress and potentially enacting a new law(s).
Many retailers believe their use of behavioral targeting has allowed them to have an increase in sales. According to one retailer, “Personalizing a Web site [via behavioral targeting] helps an individual with an intent to find what they are looking for and helps the site owner deliver more content that is relevant to the individual, said Pete Olson, VP of product management at Amadesa.” The new potential legislation is looking at having the consumer “allow” such tracking of their internet behavior. Yahoo has argued that a consumer’s privacy should be respected in order to build trust with their consumers. Yahoo is doing it’s own regulatory data collecting by only keeping consumer’s data for 90 days. However, not all businesses are wanting to implement their own “rules”, therefore legislation seems to be the only way to protect consumer’s rights.
Leadpile will keep an eye on what happens with this potential legislation.

Leadpile Wishes Father’s A Happy Father’s Day!

June 19, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Lead Exchange

lead exchange Leadpile Wishes Fathers A Happy Fathers Day!Everyone focuses so much on Mother’s Day, however we can’t forget about all our dads out there!
DID YOU KNOW???????? Father’s Day is believed to have been first celebrated in 1908 in West Virgina, however was not put into law till 1966. It was created in an effort to complement Mother’s Day. Presently, Fathers Day is celebrated in 52 countries.
So, if you haven’t run out and gotten your father that favorite father’s day gift, you have only a few more days.

A great father’s day joke:
Who is the Winner?
The father of five children had won a toy at a raffle.
He called his kids together to ask which one should have the present.
“Who is the most obedient?” he asked.
“Who never talks back to mother? and
“Who does everything mother says?”
Five small voices replied in unison. “Okay daddy! You get the toy.”

HAPPY FATHER’S DAY TO ALL!

Becoming An Effective Affiliate Marketer

June 18, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing, Lead Exchange, Lead Generation

Day in and day out I have great conversations about what a publisher thinks they should do to become an effective affiliate in the Leadpile Marketplace. Like other networks, there are certain things that any affiliate should do to become an effective affiliate marketer. The Examiner points out some good points on becoming a successful affiliate marketer.

1. Create a website
*Don’t just throw a website together and not put any thought into it. Add some creativeness and content to the website, so others can enjoy their experience too.
2. Create a website about something you enjoy
*Design your website around something you enjoy and will want to work on. If you are excited about the website then that will come through to the visitors, and they will enjoy their experience too.
3. Take the website seriously
*Unfortunately, just having a website is not enough. The website has to flow well. Putting the right type of design and content on the site will ultimately make the site attractive and EFFECTIVE.
4. Build links
*Once you have a completed website, you want to try and get ranked in the search engines. Having other sites link to your site will ultimately help with this search engine ranking, but you have to have something on your site to make others want to link to you. Once you have others linking to your site, you now have 2 ways for people to get to your site- search engine AND other sites that have linked to you. Having traffic to your site is ultimately the goal because that potentially = more $$.
5. Develop affiliate partnerships
*Monetizing your website with offers and banners is a great way to make money with your completed website. Using companies like Leadpile allows you to capture leads from your site, and then earn revenue from those leads selling. The other way is working directly with traditional affiliate networks like CJ. Do your research and find offers that will flow with the website you have created AND make you money. Once this project is working well, look at doing it all over again with additional websites to maybe run other sorts of offers. Find your niche and what you are good at doing effectively. Is it financial offers, product offers, work from home offers, or a combination of them all?
6. Track statistics of your website
*To help you determine what is working well for you on these sites, then you might want to implement some sort of tracking system. Monitoring your statistics will allow you to make necessary changes with your campaigns. Utilize various sources of traffic and see what works with the particular site. Some networks will control how you drive traffic to the site, so you will always want to find that out. Finds networks that even have their own tracking available for you so you can have that as an additional source of information. You can never have too much information to be successful in the affiliate world!

Spezify.com=Twitter, Amazon, Yahoo, MSN, Ebay & more!

June 16, 2009 By: Mari H. Category: Affiliate Marketing, Lead Exchange

There is a crazy new site that was launched today. Spezify, is a “visual” search site that incorporates sites such as Twitter, Amazon, YouTube, Yahoo and more into one common place. The site does not index any results, but uses information and feeds that have been indexed on these other sites. You can enter a word like “affiliate marketing”, and you will pull up a screen full of “tweets, pictures, and articles about the subject. It has a uniqueness about it that is appealing.
Mediapost.com states that the next steps of this site will be to incorporate music and sound, however incorporating Google search results will not be happening. Google has design “rules” around utilizing their content that will not allow Spezify to use their search results.
Try it out! I tried searching for Leadpile and it was interesting how many different results showed up, versus just doing a search for Leadpile on search engines such as “Google”.
