Big Value For Brands With Facebook

April 15, 2010 By: Mari Woods Holt Category: Lead Generation, Social Networking

We are always keeping up on the social media industry, but the one thing that has stood out is how can you really make money with it? Interesting study out by social media management company Virtue, each Facebook fan is valued at $3.60. Those that are looking at utilizing social media need to be conscious of what the true value is of having these fans, and is it really worth the marketing effort to build your fans?

Here’s some interesting Facebook math:

So what this means is that the value of Facebook to companies can be enormous if built up correctly. Instead of thinking how many fans can I have on Facebook as just a competition thing, now maybe companies should start looking at the number of fans they have really equals revenue in their pockets.

You definitely got one thing right, ‘if’ built up correctly, a company facebook page ‘could’ provide great traffic…many companies create one, try to make it work and dont really know how to market their website to the correct audience.

the value is minimal if not done correctly, building fans or followers who arent even in the same industry is irrelevant.

if a facebook follower = $3.60, how much is a twitter follower? i mean facebook has over 130 million unique visitors but google has completely updated their algorithm with real time search results. if a client were to search for a trending topic and a tweet or wall post were to be shown on the top of the search engines, this could create a high increase in revenue.

regardless, the internet and the way the search engines have attributed rankings to sites has changed, social media has become a large aspect in Googles eyes due to the user engagement. So does having a greater number of fans/followers help increase higher rankings or is it the real time user engagement that the search engines have migrated over to?

    just sayin
