I don’t know about you, but can you remember the last time you went to a post office or mailed something? In the wake of email, online banking and other electronic methods of paying bills and communication, our post offices are suffering. MSNBC is stating that our nation’s post offices are looking at a potential loss of $7 billion this year. This means that the ability to operate all these post office locations is in jeopardy. There are nearly 33,000 post office locations and my guess would be the ones that could be in trouble would be the less populated areas. That only makes sense, but I think that we need our post offices to deliver to those that do not have computer access, those that need to still deliver registered letters/packages, and for those that still choose to receive “paper” copies of their bills.
So what is the resolution to this money issue with the post office besides just closing down offices? Could we see mail getting delivered less than 6 days a week? Leadpile and other lead generation companies are not necessarily focused on direct mail, however this is something that we are considering utilizing as a source of lead generation. I don’t really see the post office issue as affecting that decision.

In light of what is going on the economy, direct mail credit card offers have continued to see a decline. According to DMNews, direct mail production has been continuing to fall since the 3rd quarter of 2007. Now things are probably getting worse for those issuing the credit cards, because of the tighter belt on lending guidelines. With costs high to do direct mail campaigns, and the inability to lend to as many people as they want, credit card issuers are having to face the idea of either cutting back, or looking at other options to generate business.
Leadpile Lead Exchange works with a lot of lead types relating to the financial industry, however generating credit card leads is not something we have had a recent demand for. Is this maybe something that will now change, as advertisers look for more cost effective ways to generate business? We certainly can look at generating this lead type if we have a high enough demand. However, maybe consumers overall will shy away from even applying for a credit card. I believe the payday loan industry will continue to strive to be the go-to lender consumers lean towards. Trying to get qualified for a “standard” credit card or loan, is going to be harder and harder these days to get.

According to DMNews, payday lender Advance America has launched a new type of marketing campaign. They are using various marketing campaigns like social networking sites, direct mail, internet marketing and more to try and keep their name in front of consumers who might be going through tough times. They are looking to generate consumers who would like to share their experiences with the company, and other potential payday loan recipients. Advance America is posting all these testimonials on the site www.whoisthereforyou.com for other consumers to be able to read and relate to. They want consumers to understand that others have been through their same type of situation, and Advance America is there for them in these tough times.
This is a great way for a payday company to bring some positive light to an industry that is not always getting the right kind of attention.
A payday lender doing this definitely shows that they do care about their customers!
