Fastest Text Record

August 24, 2010 By: Nicky Category: Lead Exchange, Social Networking

The US may not hold the world record for fastest texting any longer. Melissa Thompson from Salford, England has just broken the record for fastest typing on a phone using the sentence,

“The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality they seldom attack a human.”.

The previous Guinness World Record was held by Franklin Page from Seattle with a text speed of 35.45 seconds. If approved by Guinness, Thompson will hold the new record for texting the sentence the most quickly in 29.54 seconds. Although she says she has slowed down, Thompson accredits her texting abilities to writing her boyfriend 40-50 times a day. Clearly, she’s had quite a bit of practice.

Can you text the above sentence used by Guinness Records in less than the current record time? Being on the internet so often, I’m almost willing to bet some of the people here at Leadpile could!

Microsoft is stepping up to the plate and creating a market for their new phone, the Microsoft Windows 7 Phone.

Although the last attempt to compete with the iphone failed when creating the KIN phone, senior vice president of mobile Andy Lee says,

“…We’re back with something very different and innovative.”.

The new Microsoft phone will feature a Find My Phone service that offers people a way to look on their computer and trace where their phone is if it becomes lost. It will also have a companion site for storing photos, contacts, etc.

As part of a plan for publicity, they will be distributing the new phone to their 87,000 workers for Microsoft. The new phone is set to launch around October or for the Holiday season. Leadpile

MagicJack: Say Goodbye To Cell Phone Minutes?

January 09, 2010 By: Natasha Aronov Category: Lead Exchange, Technology

A new calling device was announced today that could save people a lot of money on cell phone minutes they are currently racking up. This new product is called the MagicJack. The MagicJack uses the internet to make free calls from cell phones when in the home. According to yahoo.com this device uses the same radio frequencies that cellular carriers have paid billions of dollars for exclusive licenses.
The way it works is like a tiny little cell tower located in your home. It is plugged into your computer and connects to a cell phone that is located within 8 feet of the MagicJack. It places a call to your cell phone, once the phone is connected by entering a security code with the keypad of the phone, it is connected and you are able to make calls as long as it stays in range of the device. The device is said to have a range that will cover a 3,000-square-foot home. No minutes will be charged to your cell phone because the call is placed over the Internet.
Introduced at the International Consumers Electronics Show, the MagicJack is expected to start selling in May for $40, it will provide free calls to the U.S. and Canada for one year. I guess the cell phone companies are going to have to come up some more creative ways to charge the consumers.
