New Jumo Site to Help Others

November 30, 2010 By: Nicky Category: Lead Exchange, Social Networking, Technology

lead exchange New Jumo Site to Help OthersFacebook co-founder Chris Hughes has introduced a new site named Jumo, which will work much like Facebook only this site is to help a project or issue of your choice. As Facebook has become a very common social network, Jumo aims to be a social network that also gives back to your community. With Jumo, issues such as cancer, public schools, poverty and 3,500 other organizations are brought to light.

Each individual one has their own page with information on the cause like how to help, locations of these places, and who you would need to contact. Providing information or “likes” about yourself can connect you to issues that you personally are interested in or local areas that may need your help.

While Facebook is concentrated on things like friends and social gatherings, Jumo offers a place for people to gather to share or explore issues that others are also concentrated on. Although many focus on the Holiday season to give back, this new site is an outlet to bestow charity all year long.

Google Logo Change

September 07, 2010 By: Nicky Category: Lead Exchange, Social Networking, Technology

The internet has been buzzing today about Google’s new home page and how the logo has changed. The previous logo has gone from the solid colored “Google” font to moving colorful dots that scatter through out the screen when the mouse goes by it.
Many people are speculating if the new logo has to do with Google’s 12th Birthday, new innovations, or if it’s just an entertaining change for the site.

This morning, a Google spokesperson stated,

“Today’s doodle is fun, fast, and interactive, just the way we think search should be,”.

Last time Google received this much attention for their homepage was back in May when it was turned into a playable Pac-Man game for the game’s anniversary. This page was so popular it was reported to have used 4.8 million hours of productivity from those who used it.

One way or another, Google is once again  receiving attention for simply changing their home page look.

Paid Searches Pay Off

According to recent articles, the amount of money being spent on paid internet searches (such asPPC) has notably risen. Between 2008-2009 there was a 14% rise. Many believe the increase in paid searches can be due to the retail industry being down, leaving more opportunity for non-retail related businesses and consumers to make purchases on the  internet. Search engine sites, such as Bing, are up an impressive 26%, with Google up 15.9% for paid searches.

Paid searches on the internet continue to grow strong and prove to be beneficial to websites on the internet. Leadpile works with PPC publishers to help maximize a site’s potential and bring in consumers who are looking for a service.

Facebook: not everyone’s best friend

July 24, 2008 By: Mari Woods Holt Category: Affiliate, Lead Exchange

What would you do if you came across your primary care physician on Facebook? How about if you came across a surgeon that was going to be performing some surgery for you in the coming weeks? Would what you see and read about that person affect your decision to trust them and their abilities?

This is something many need to be concerned about when it comes to blog posts, social media sites and other networking groups the public has access to. Too much information could be a bad thing. Too many negative blog posts could put a negative light on some and affect how the outside world perceives them.
According to a recent article on MSNBC, some researchers looked up more than 800 medical students and residents by name on Facebook.com, one of the most popular social-networking sites with about 80 million users worldwide. Everyone can limit who has access to their pages to just friends, however this information could be sometimes accessed.
The study, published recently in the Journal of General Internal Medicine, “found that nearly half the medical students had Facebook pages, with only 37 percent limiting viewership to their friends.” More than half of those whose pages were open for review provided lifestyle information, including sexual orientation, personal relationships and political views and sometimes opinions, according to MSNBC.
Erick W. Black, one of the researchers, said he found pictures with some students grabbing each others private parts, posing with weird objects, and multiple photos of medical students drinking heavily. Does this represent the image that we all have on those that are potentially taking care of us, such as our doctors?
I have to admit Leadpile Lead Exchange has this blog to posts our thoughts and industry news, however I would still be a little hesitant on posting something that I would some day regret or not want another person to see.
