Starbucks Turns 40 & Gets A Facelift

January 05, 2011 By: Mari Woods Holt Category: Affiliate, Lead Exchange, Social Networking

One of the biggest brands out there has to be Starbucks. Well they must think so themselves because they are now going to be giving their Starbucks logo a pretty big facelift by removing their name off the logo. The company is about to celebrate it’s 40 year anniversary, and it seems that they find the best way to do that is to make a logo change.
According to the Associated Press, “Starbucks leaders say the changes to the logo are in some ways a metaphor for the company dropping the boundaries of its own business and growing into new areas. Marketing experts agree.” Starbucks is looking at other big name companies who have successfully dropped their name from their logos. Hopefully this new facelift will be as successful for Starbucks as it was for companies like Nike and Apple. You can truly say you have made it as a company if you do not even need to show your name on your company logo or any other advertising. We hope it works Starbucks!

Starbucks Digital Network – Coming Soon To A Starbucks Near You

August 13, 2010 By: Monica Vo Category: Lead Exchange

This is a topic very near and dear to the Leadpile families’ heart.  Starbucks.  We as a company could probably support a single Starbucks on our own.  Combine the rich coffee blend with the free Wi-Fi they started providing in July, we could setup offices there.

Starbucks also recently announced the launch of its digital network later this fall.  The new, in-store digital network will offer localized content, entertainment and news.  A splash page will be presented to customers when they log on to the internet in Starbucks stores that they can choose to explore or navigate away from to continue to their desired destination.

The popular Zagat review will lookup local restaurants; runners, bikers and hikers can plan routes through Rodale using geo-targeted maps and Patch will offer local neighborhood events.

Revenue sharing opportunities will be available to marketing partners for customers that purchase downloads or subscribe to partner services.

People “like” on Facebook

August 10, 2010 By: Nicky Category: Lead Exchange, Social Networking

lead exchange People like on FacebookCompanies and products have been buying people to “like” their pages on Facebook hoping to bring in as many customers as possible. The ability for people to “like” something was replaced by the previous “fan” option. One of the companies topping off the list of “liked” Facebook pages for their company is Starbucks with 11.8 million “likes”. They even offer a way for the customers to keep track of their spending as an incentive. Other companies/products with an abundance of “likes” are Coca-Cola with 9.6 million, Oreos with 7.9 million, and Skittles with 7.8 million.

While some companies are going out of their way to accumulate as many “likes” as possible, others are only interested in quality customers. Mike Corrales, Vice President of BillMyParents says,

“I would rather have 2,500 real, authentic people than have 250,000 fake ones”.

There are so many different social media outlets today, making the potential for new customers easier to reach. On the same note, quality traffic is something that is more difficult to come across. Leadpile focuses on the best quality traffic for consumers.

Wine At Starbucks?

April 05, 2010 By: Natasha Aronov Category: Lead Exchange

Starbucks is revamping it’s image to something other than your morning or afternoon stop for a caffeine fix. In Seattle, the Starbucks Corporation has opened a Roy’s Street Coffee & Tea & 15th Avenue Coffee & Tea. The new cafés were created as a challenge to break away from the mold.

According to msnbc.com it is speculated that the two new cafés were designed to separate Starbucks apart from others and back to the top of the market with so much competition facing its lattes and frappuccinos. The company also debuted a small number of test cafés last summer with a new store design focusing on energy savings and being “green”.

It is not predicted that Starbucks will convert it’s other stores to this atmosphere or start serving alcohol any time soon….However, this might be a good thing – walking downstairs to get your caffeine in the afternoon, it might be just a little to tempting to replace that triple shot frappuccino with a nice glass of red wine!!

What Daily Habits Really Cost

March 23, 2010 By: Monica Vo Category: Financial

These days, everyone is looking for a way to save some of the hard-earned dollars we are all clinging onto so tightly. Most people would probably say they have really cut back on their spending. However, people spend money as a part of their daily routine and a couple bucks here or there never really compute to the reality of what that number looks like over the course of a year. Walletpop.com recently published an article highlighted exactly what some of these bad habits really cost you, and after reading it, you might cringe yourself. According to the article, if a person participates in all of the daily spending habits, they are looking at around $12,288.50 per year. We’ve listed just a few of these habits that were highlighted in the article below.

Soda
For example, if you go to the vending machine or the gas station one time a day and spend $1.50 on a soda, that translates into $547.50 a year (before tax). Make that three a day and that’s a whopping $1,642.50.

$3.50 Coffee

Coffee
The daily trip to the barista for one cappuccino a day will cost you on average $1,442 per year. If it’s only during the work week, you’re still looking at $1,031 per year.

Lottery
A buck to win millions of dollars.

Doesn’t sound bad, does it? But, you do that every day and you’re looking at $365 per year in lottery tickets. And do people usually just buy one? Probably not. Statistics say you have more chances of getting in a car accident, plane accident or struck by lightening than winning the lottery. Doesn’t mean it’s impossible to win. After all, Hurley won, right? But, wouldn’t you like to put that $365 back into your savings account?

French Fries
Now we all know how bad French Fries are for you, so never mind the medical expenses they may cause down the road from health problems. But, getting fries with your combo meal three times a week at a fast food restaurant will cost an extra $80 per year. Get fries with your restaurant meal twice a week and you are looking at $312 per year.

Car Maintenance
Before you go out and purchase a new car, consider the cost to keep your current one. Small changes in the maintenance of your car can save money and is much less expensive than a car payment. Driving your car with the correct amount of pressure in the tires could save you as much as $172 per year. A clogged air filter could cost $180 per year.

Cigarettes
This is one of the more expensive categories. A pack of cigarettes at the gas station will cost anywhere from $5 to $10/pack depending on what state you live in. At that price, one pack per day translates between $1825 and $3650. Make that two packs a day and you are looking at $3650 to $7300 per year.
There’s probably 50 other things we all mindlessly spend money on, but it’s always good to take a step back and evaluate the budget and determine where to cut back and where to spend more. We still have to enjoy the simple pleasures in life, so if that Starbucks coffee or lottery ticket puts an extra bounce in your step, then by all means enjoy it.

Small Ways Americans Can Save Money

October 08, 2008 By: Mari Woods Holt Category: Affiliate, Lead Exchange, Lead Generation, Lead Marketplace

You are probably saying why is a lead generation company talking about how to save money. Well, just as most financial companies come across those that are financially strapped, so does Leadpile Lead Exchange. We see the consumers that are really needing that payday loan or who need debt assistance.
Therefore, I thought I would share this article I came across on MSN.com.

10 ways you can potentially save $500:

1. Drive less
*The cost of gas and maintaining a car can be very costly. Use carpooling or public transportation.
2. Buy your own coffee or energy drinks instead of stopping each day
*The cost of a Starbucks coffee is at least $3.00 and energy drinks at your local convenience store are about the same. Buy your own coffee and energy drinks in bulk from the grocery store.
3. Conserve energy at home
*Increase your temperature you keep your home at while not there and also while at home. Adjusting it just a degree or two saves a lot of money in your monthly electrical bill.
4. Do your own landscaping
* Pull your own weeds. It is a nice way to stay active and save a lot of money.
5. Think twice about getting that new pet
* Taking care of a pet requires a lot of time and also money to maintain. This is an added expense that should be done when discretionary income is higher.
6. Consider buying store brand products around the house
* All grocery stores have their own store brand products. Some are better than others. However, trying the different variations will save a whole lot of money.
7. Limit internet, cable, and other media costs you have in your home
* Do we all really need 100s of channels to watch. Most Americans watch the same channels on a regular basis. This can be very costly if you don’t keep it to a minimum.
8. Sign up for any reimbursement plans available at work
*Find out if your employer has any sort of carpool reimbursement, tuition reimbursement and other programs they offer for their employees. This could save a lot of money on things you already do.
9. Eat in
* This is one of the biggest expenses we all incur, and also a place where we can save a lot of money by limiting how much we are eating out.
10. Pay at least minimum payments on credit cards to avoid future credit card fees
*Not paying your minimum payment amount leads to added fees from the credit card company, but is also affects your credit which makes your credit score go down. When you credit score goes down, that causes you to either not be able to get a loan or have to pay more to get the loan.

It is easier said than done with these items, however making a good effort to save here and save there will allow consumers to cut back on their monthly costs.
